All art is really about ethics. We write stories about how the world works and who should get to "win" and thrive. Our narratives are about how people live their lives, their "ethic" and the group of thoughts that anchor their worldview. Writing is part of the "sense-making process" - It is how we understand other's choices and what motivates the decisions they make.
What we write, how we play with memory, and the way we construct characters and storylines is how we make sense of the world. Our ethics are encoded in the work we create.
Writing Prompt: continuing this idea of ethics and sense-making, this writing prompt encourages you to shift the moral high ground:
Write a scene where it is clear who has the moral high ground (ie. who encompasses or aligns with your idea of "good") and then rewrite the scene from a more complicated ethic where it is unclear if the character is good when the moral high ground is shifted.
